Know, understand and become your +2 pure self.

Emotional intelligence comes from emotional health.

Emotional health is the panacea for a wise America.

Use Your Brain and Mind to Improve Each Other.

Brain education is about actualizing your full emotional health power.

Wisdom education is brain cleaning education.

Women cops are given the same training & yet it is the male cops that shoot to kill. It is the inherently ingrained male machoness that triggers the difference.

Please bring this to the attention of our leaders. All America needs wise parenting. Can you imagine a wise police officer shooting anyone? We can create a thriving America.”

— Sajid Khan

NEW YORK CITY, NY, USA, June 15, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — We are looking at police brutality as a race problem. The rot is far deeper than that. What I am about to share will not only eliminate police brutality it will replace it with love, justice, equality & a thriving relationship between races. It will even bring prosperity, uplifting almost half of America that is now struggling to pay bills.

As I have said earlier it all has to do with how we bring up our sons & daughters. We bring up our boys macho while we bring up our girls humble. Machoness is ignorance and humility is wisdom. We bring up our girls wise and our boys emotionally challenged. Just imagine if we brought up our boys humble.

We raise our sons into emotional health disasters. No wonder women are thriving while a large section of our men are messed up. Just imagine the ocean change if our sons were raised humble. Can you imagine a wise police officer shooting anyone? Can you imagine a wise America creating all this social mess?

After all women cops are given the same police training and yet it is the male cops that shoot to kill. It is the inherently ingrained male machoness that triggers the difference. Before handing the male cops a gun they must be tested and trained for humility.

The racial divide and White bias is real. Black and other minorities have always struggled and fought for equality and justice. However there is a lack of genuine proactive Black leadership that will take our Black nation to the promised land. One very clear and simple step will achieve more than just equality. Instead of focusing on fighting for equal handouts the fight has to shift to not only becoming self sufficient but acquiring the means to become wealthy. Look at the Jewish leaders. Their people were economically destroyed again and again. They did not fight back with violence. They put their heads down and doubled their efforts to become bigger and bigger experts in every field that generated the most wealth. They did not let hate enter their minds, for hate blocks out emotional health downgrading the capacity to focus on generating wealth. This Jewish way has to be followed by all communities and races.

Regarding police brutality towards Blacks, policing laws have got to change. Killing civilians must be made illegal. All military gear must be removed from police use. The severest weapon that police can use in extreme cases is the taser gun. Norway has not had a police killing in over a decade. Their police training must be looked into and their training adopted for training our police.

We must focus on removing America's shortcomings. We can make individual Americans a force to be reckoned with. All across Americans must not look for handouts any longer and must create wealth for themselves and make America richer by generating income tax.

Here are some steps that need to be implemented:

1) Reform the police by making them into a peace corp. Give the police the same training that is given to the Norway police.

2) This is also the time to take steps to create an America that is emotionally super healthy.

3) Along with reforming regular mind education we need a new subject of compulsory brain education.

4) A compulsory subject that makes every student into an expert in saving and investing money.

5) Any police incident that is not recorded by the police has to be termed as the civilian is innocent and the police is guilty of using unnecessary force.

6) Create a new profession of wise parenting coaches and inspectors. make sure all children are brought up humble, male and female.

I am looking for partners to transform the world into wisdom.

Apart from hundreds of press releases I have created songs that reduce whole books into single songs:

Dr. Teresa Lear of Center for Attachment & Trauma Services to be Featured on Close Up Radio

SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA, UNITED STATES, June 12, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Our earliest relationship—our attachment with a caregiver–provides a template for all our future relationships. When that attachment is compromised or disrupted by traumatic experiences, it can negatively affect a child’s development and functioning later in life.

Dr. Teresa Lear is the executive director of Center for Attachment & Trauma Services, a nonprofit outpatient therapy center dedicated to promoting healthy relationships from the prenatal period through infancy, childhood, adolescence, and all stages of adulthood.

“We do this because we know we're good at it and we understand the complex interplay between attachment and trauma,” says Dr. Lear. “It's all based on helping our clients develop a sense of safety in relationship by building a stronger, healthier attachment between children and their caregivers in the face of everything they've already been through.”

Dr. Lear and her team at Center for Attachment & Trauma Services specialize in working with families to build healthy connections and form secure attachments. The center works closely with local departments of social services to serve children in the foster care system and adoptive families, as well offer support and psychoeducation to parents and foster parents as they manage any number of maladaptive behaviors in the children they are raising.

According to Dr. Lear, one of the best things we can do for a child is give them permanency. Dr. Lear and her teamwork with caregivers to preserve the attachments with their children. “We must prepare these parents for children who reject parenting and may become extremely emotionally dysregulated to the point of hurting themselves, hurting others or destroying property.”

“Many of these children grew up in their earliest years really fending for themselves,” explains Dr. Lear. “For these children, it actually feels unsafe to accept a parenting control, and so we work with them on the experience of feeling safety.” In these cases, the ‘bottom-up’ approach works best. This means the therapy is geared toward addressing the client’s sympathetic nervous system reactivity, as opposed to a traditional cognitive approach.”

Dr. Lear says most of this behavior is derived from being in an unsafe or chaotic environment early in life. The children must adapt in order to survive in an abusive or neglectful environment. They learn to trust no one, and when placed in a normal family home with structure and rules, they ask themselves, “Is it safe to trust this person?” And quite often the answer for these children is no.

“We're asking parents to learn how to do things that they never really learned through their own experience of being parented. We provide the entire package for parents. We model how to engage with these children, how to calm them down, how to keep themselves calm during an outburst. We don't prescribe, obviously, but we work with prescribing physicians, when necessary, for the best outcome.”

Dr. Lear and her team will observe children interacting with their caregivers through play or other activities orchestrated to elicit attachment behaviors. Then they can identify weaknesses or strengths in this child's behavior, which helps them determine the best course of therapy.

“I have to believe there's hope for every child, if not for a full recovery, but for some improved level of functioning,” says Dr. Lear. “This is important for kids to be able to function in the world and hopefully learn how to appropriately parent their own children one day.”

Close Up Radio will feature Dr. Teresa Lear in an interview with Doug Llewelyn on June 16th at 12pm EDT

This Time Around The Protests Are Not About Police Brutality Alone

Are you your pure self or your phony self-image?

Use your mind/’I’ to heal your brain.

Wisdom power is emotional health power.

Emotionally Healthy Brain Generates Emotional Intelligence.

Know your brain and mind as distinct entities.

Use Your Brain and Mind to Improve Each Other.

A new movement is emerging powered by realization that most of the struggling Blacks & Whites are all in the same boat of exploitation, neglect and injustice.

The powers that be cannot pull wool over the eyes of the exploited masses any longer. It is clear that the system is stacked against the struggling Whites, Blacks, Browns and Native Americans.”

— Sajid Khan

WASHINGTON, DC, WASHINGTON, DC, USA, June 9, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — There we go again. The actual situation on the ground is being misread by our leaders. They are acting on the understanding that these protests are about police brutality alone. The vast majority of struggling Americans, Black, White and Brown have realized that the police behavior is just a symptom of the whole system being stacked against the poor, the bottom half of the economic ladder. The virus stimulus package has shown that the government is all for their top well connected associates, the filthy wealthy class. The already rich get the seat at the table with all kinds of cakes in their ivory towers while less than sufficient crumbs are thrown to the vast majority of struggling Americans down below.

This protest is not just about the police being the judge, the jury and the executioner. It is about the system needing to change providing the same resources to the poor as are provided to the rich.

A new movement is emerging powered by the realization that most of the struggling Blacks and Whites are all in the same boat of exploitation, neglect and injustice. The system is there just for the rich and powerful.

If our leaders want these protests to subside some of the steps that are necessary are as follows:

1) Make illegal the killing of civilians and using brute force like choke holds and stopping.

2) Body cameras must be made essential and those cops without cameras must pay a fine.

3) Black and poor neighborhoods need to be made into tax free enterprise zones with full financial support and coaching . 20% of all government contracts must be given to businesses from these areas.

4) Poor neighborhood schools must be provided the same resources as the rich neighborhoods.

5) Banks that discriminate with mortgage refusals and higher interest rates to the underprivileged must be fined big time and the money used to improve the poor neighborhoods.

6) With the all round discriminately tactics the emotional health of the struggling masses is messed up. Brain therapy for the old and full support for Wise Parenting of the young has to be fully funded.

7) The education system has to be reformed by creating a separate subject of Brain Education for all.

8) Petty criminals end up in jail for years while corporate criminals often go scot free. These laws have to be reversed. All discriminatory laws must be abolished. Especially three strikes and you are out for small crimes.

9) Those with nonviolent jail terms must be allowed to vote.

10) Provide the same support and privileges to the Native Americans.

11) Emotional health (EH)/wisdom departments must be established in hospitals and educational institutions.

Injustice and discrimination will no longer be tolerated.

What Can We Do as Actors to Spread Love, Acceptance, Respect to Each Other & Make Real Change in the World?

Nicole Brandon, Talented Actress and Motivational Speaker

By Actress Nicole Brandon

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, June 4, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — My heart is breaking today. To watch the world, to watch people be divided instead of standing as one. One being, one humanity, one heart, one world, one love. I remember, I was on a date after 9/11, we were at dinner and my date asked me; if you were the President and 9/11 happened, what would be the very first thing you would do. I would cry, I answered. You would cry; he asked. Yes, I said. I would not vote for you; he said. Of course I told him, I would take steps towards unity and peace but first, the first thing I would do, is cry. Today is no different. Any caring being aches today from inside. No man or woman of any race or color should ever feel less than or compromised. How do we let that happen? In our world, under our care and watch.

I was reminded today of a Disney movie that changed my life, called the Color of Friendship. It was released in 2000 and takes place in 1977. The movie recounts the actual events and the flourishing friendship between two girls one from the United States and the other from apartheid South Africa. The film is based on the Dellums family who hosted a white South African teen as an exchange student. Their fears, the raw truths, the unfolding of dreams and their friendship is beautiful to watch. It's so heartfelt to watch these girls unlearn untruths and come together as best friends sharing teen years and learning from one another that friendship is not the color of your skin, or where you're from, friendship is a bond between people, who care and truly know how to love. Today I received an email that touched me so deeply from Erin Elizabeth Burns the entire email reminded me why I love her so much. This is an excerpt from her email. It pertains to all of us not just actors, may it move you as I was moved and may we all come together in peace harmony and love. There are resources listed here, use them, go to them, reach out and make a difference.

What can we do as Actors to spread love, acceptance, respect to each other & make real change in the world?

We can support films with a message.

We can educate ourselves.

We can donate to Anti-Racial organizations.

We can write scripts on these topics.

We can listen.

A song is more than a thousand words. Making education a pleasure and a more likely home run.

Creating educational songs to effortlessly embed lessons into the focused as well as the unfocused students. As well as to easily attract and get the uneducated get educated without effort.”

— Sajid Khan

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ, UNITED STATES, May 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Internet education is now being enhanced with 6 minute videos that visualize the lessons making it easer to digest the subject matter better. As they say a picture is worth a thousand word. Thus with videos learning takes place through the ears as well as the eyes. This internet innovation needs to be brought down into regular classrooms. Just imagine a computer screen as the black board with the teacher instead of writing with a chalk is sitting at a computer writing and explaining the lesson with his fingers. In this corona world order this might just become an innovative necessity.

I would like to add creating learning through songs for several reasons. Songs last longer in memories and thus lessons are easier to remember. Lessons wrapped in music will attract more focus, thus students will pay much more attention. For my particular subject of teaching the science of the art of living not only is there a need to educate the student, there is a need to educate even those who have left the school behind and have missed the education boat.

Just imagine teaching the sciences of life by reducing whole books into a few very short topics through musically appealing songs. Take the topic of upbringing. There is a need to ensure every student to be well prepared for future parenthood and an equally necessary opportunity to teach parents who have missed the wise parenting education. Dragging every uneducated into the classroom will be difficult and logistically impossible. Yet it is imperative that all parents need to be experts in following the path of wise parenting.

Teaching through the ears as well as the eyes, that is soothing to both. Making education a pleasure and a more likely home run.

I have produced two songs that explain the most vital knowledge that needs to be learned by students and the uneducated alike:

Our education system is geared towards providing the expertise to earn good money. There is no universal effort to teach how to save and invest money. As a result most people in America earn good money but almost half end up without any savings let alone with any investments.

Again America is an emotionally challenged country because our experts lump the brain and mind as the mind. Thus we have cutting edge mind education while brain education is not only missing, the brain is miseducated.

Our education institutes must note that it is brain education that generates emotional health (EH) that is the foundation of health, education, society, relationships, happiness etc.

Along with short videos I have a plan to create educational songs that will create an emotionally healthy America and the world.

I need partners and mentors.

Mental Health Month: A Marketing Campaign to Fuel the Psychiatric Industry

More than 7 million U.S. children are being prescribed psychiatric drugs and hundreds of thousands of these children are between the ages of zero to five.

The Marketing of Madness: Are We All Insane?

Psychiatric treatment is one of the most lucrative businesses in the world according to IMS Health with global sales reaching $76 billion a year.

Too often a person seeking help is simply given a script for a psychiatric drug with dangerous side effects. This isn’t help. This is business, business built on the pain of others.”

— Diane Stein, president of CCHR Florida

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, May 27, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Since 1949 the month of May has been touted as Mental Health Month for the stated purpose of educating people on mental health issues. However, the real motive behind this marketing comes into question when messages such as “the 7 biggest parenting mistakes that destroy kids’ mental strength” and “Homeschooling is ‘Dangerous,’ It Gives Parents ‘Authoritarian Control’ Over Kids” are being pushed. [1,2]

During Mental Health Month, the call to action was for a million mental health screenings to be completed. Individuals interested in learning more about mental illness are driven to websites where they can take a series of quizzes called screening tools which are marketed as the quickest and easiest way to determine if someone is experiencing “symptoms” of a mental health condition. [3]

“According to those pushing for more mental health screenings, most of the people who take these quizzes have never been diagnosed with a mental illness making it the perfect generator for new business,” said the president of the Florida chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR).

With global sales reaching $76 billion a year, psychiatric treatment is one of the most lucrative businesses in the world and according to IMS Health, a company that provides information, services and technology for the healthcare industry, there are over 78 million people taking psychiatric drugs in the United States. [4,5]

“All too often a person seeking help is simply labeled and given a script for a psychiatric drug with potentially dangerous side effects,” said Stein. “This isn’t help. This is business, business built on the pain of others.”

Additionally, as reported in Scientific American, 1 in 6 American adults reported taking a psychiatric drug in a 2013 study and currently more than 7 million U.S. children are being prescribed psychiatric drugs and hundreds of thousands of these children are between the ages of zero to five. [6,7]

The targeting of children for mental health screening is of grave concern to CCHR, a watchdog organization that investigates abuse committed in the mental health industry, who believes that parents are not properly informed of their rights in these matters.

In response, CCHR created a Parental Rights Guidebook for Florida parents which lists out rights in easy to understand terms. This free booklet is available for download on the CCHR website and the campaign to inform parents of their rights has now reached over 140,000 via social media. To learn more, please call 727-442-8820 or visit www.cchrflorida.org. CCHR also operates a hotline to report mental health abuse and this hotline, 800-782-2878, is open despite COVID-19 restrictions.

About CCHR: Initially established by the Church of Scientology and renowned psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz in 1969, CCHR’s mission is to eradicate abuses committed under the guise of mental health and enact patient and consumer protections. L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, first brought psychiatric imprisonment to wide public notice: “Thousands and thousands are seized without process of law, every week, over the ‘free world’ tortured, castrated, killed. All in the name of ‘mental health,’” he wrote in March 1969. For more information please visit www.cchrflorida.org.

It Is Time To Digitize Our Parenting Skills

Two international authors working together for the online safety and protection of children globally

Two Authors On A Mission

An Insidious Health Crisis For Our Children

Police have warned they are listening to the chatter among predators. Predators are bragging about how easy it is to access their prey online – our children.”

— Charlene Doak-Gebauer

LONDON, ONTARIO, CANADA, May 26, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — “My kids are online all of the time. I just found a nude picture of my daughter. I can’t believe it. When I asked her about it, she laughed and said everyone is doing it! Calm down!”, said a frustrated and concerned parent of a 9-year-old child.

Author, Charlene Doak-Gebauer, warns this type of situation is far greater than parents and caregivers realize. When speaking in schools, she explains that children aged six to 18 consider sending “nudes” to be a joke. Law enforcement will explain this situation is not a joke, and can meet the definition of producing and distributing child pornography under most criminal codes, globally. Because the parents own the digital device contracts, they are in possession of child pornography, even though the pictures are of their child. She explains “Envision this – the police come to your door at 6:00 a.m., go through your house and seize all computer equipment because your 9-year-old child has been sending nudes to an unknown. You could be viewed as a perpetrator until proven innocent. Do you want to have this conversation with police?” True story – London, Ontario, Canada.

The Internet has provided a “virtual buffet” for predation, by unknowns, but also peers and “peer victimizers". Peer victimizers are the fastest growing group of predators, and can be the most damaging. Too often children have sent nudes in confidence to a “friend”, only to find their pictures have been broadcast throughout a school and a community. This causes anxiety, depression, suicide, and other emotions. “With today’s apps and digital devices, one nude picture in a school of 1,000 can circulate within minutes, less than an hour”, says Doak-Gebauer. “We are all fearful of COVID but we have to remember our children online. Police have warned they are listening to the chatter among predators. Predators are bragging about how easy it is to access their prey online – our children.”

Charlene Doak-Gebauer, a computer and network specialist in education, has developed a Theory of Digital Supervision for supervising children while they are on digital devices, which is designed to aide the digitization of parenting. It is written in user-friendly language for all to understand and apply. Her newest release “The Internet: Are Children In Charge?” provides parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools they need to supervise digitally, a complete and interesting resource for Digital Supervision. Also included in her book are interviews with police, a lawyer, and therapists, who have worked in the area of Internet child exploitation; and, interviews with victims of Internet child exploitation. Doak-Gebauer explains, “My book is written to be user friendly and without complicated technological verbiage that would confuse parents and caregivers”. She emphasizes it is time to digitize our parenting skills.

Doak-Gebauer warns, “Children are being given too much ownership for their decisions, particularly online. An eight-year old has little choice as to what to have for dinner, and yet they are supposed to make the right choices while communicating online. They lack the life skills and maturity to do so effectively. We have to supervise on digital devices.”

Therapists are seeing children as young as six years old who have pornography addiction issues. The pandemic crisis and the possible long-term effects of online negative experiences, has given Doak-Gebauer an even greater determination to help parents and caregivers in their challenges to protect children online.

Charlene Doak-Gebauer, from Canada, is an Author, global speaker, Founder and Chair of the Canadian Federal charity Internet Sense First, and Founder and Chair of the AICET Council (Anti Internet Child Exploitation Team). She has teamed up with Global Keynote Speaker & Inspirational Thought Leader, Holly Dowling, from the United States of America. Holly is Founder of "Extraordinary Pivot: Turning Chaos Into Calm", focusing on personal and family mental well being – separating professional life from home life for mental health. Doak-Gebauer says “Holly is a dear friend and a true leader in thought and inspiration. When I asked her to join me in helping families cope with the online challenges for our children, she responded ‘yes’ without hesitation. We are proving borders are surmountable when it comes to working together.”

Doak-Gebauer emphasizes we should all practice solidarity without borders for the online safety of our precious children. Together, the authors emphasize – “protection of children should be nonpartisan, without borders, and unified globally”.

Holly’s book “Hollyisms: Let Your Light Shine!” provides parents with inspirational and spiritual quotes to help them in their emotional struggles, as families cope with challenges. Dowling explains, “In addition to helping adults, this book can be used to educate children regarding positive emotional approaches to so many challenges, allowing their light to shine.”

Dowling and Doak-Gebauer believe their two books together are excellent for parents, grandparents, and all caregivers. Both books are useful in households to help combat the challenges families are facing. The authors agree it is important to learn how to digitally supervise children for online protection, and have strong spirit at the same time.

Doak-Gebauer is Founder and Chair of the AICET Council, which has international members, representing Canada, the United States, and Spain. Members of the AICET Council contribute their expertise regarding the three parts of Doak-Gebauer’s Theory of Digital Supervision. Charlene – “I developed the AICET Council because I wanted to have an international team of experts who would expand on my Theory of Digital Supervision”. Holly and Charlene both present as part of the AICET Council. Reading their books further explains their determination and dedication to the safety of children. The mandate of the AICET Council – “Solidarity without borders for the online safety of our children globally”.

Unselfish Kids Wins Award for “Outstanding Book of the Year”

Unselfish Kids book

Timely inspirational coffee table book to help us emerge from the effects of COVID-19

TRAVERSE CITY, MI, UNITED STATES, May 12, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The 2020 Independent Publisher Book Awards, one of the largest book awards contests in the world, has awarded Unselfish Kids by Paul D. Parkinson and Sammie Parkinson the Outstanding Book of the Year, Peacemaker. Over 4,000 books were reviewed by this year’s judging panel, made up of experts from the fields of publishing, reviewing, bookselling and libraries. “We feel that given all that is going on in the world right now, this is a very timely recognition of a universal message that resonates with all people”, say the authors. “The recognition belongs to the children whose stories are shared in the book. They are real-life heroes for our time.”

Quotes, Endorsements and Appearances
Earlier this year, Cat Bowen of the parenting website Romper.com called Unselfish Kids “The most inspiring book you’ll read this year” and noted the book will “inspire you to change the world”.
Unselfish Kids was released on December 3, 2019 (“Giving Tuesday”). On that date, the book and its authors, along with three of the children from the book, were featured on the Today Show with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush-Hager. (The Today Show segment can be viewed here.)
Jack Canfield, Co-Author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series says, “The stories of Unselfish Kids will warm your heart and inspire both kids and adults to reach out and make a difference in the lives of others.”

Unselfish Kids’ powerful message resonates today
Unselfish Kids is the ideal book for our time, with its 40 short stories of children making the world a better place. Included with each story is a full-color photo. “We spent over a year and a half collecting stories highlighting the selfless and charitable acts of children all over the country”, says Co-Author Paul D. Parkinson, whose first book Unselfish: Love Thy Neighbor As Thy Selfie became a top-selling coffee table book.
“I can’t think of a better book for parents and children to read together during this unique time, with 95% of the kids in the country out of school, and so many challenges facing people young and old. Our hope is that each person will create their own plan to do their part”, says Co-Author Sammie Parkinson. “Unselfish Kids shows us that we all have a part to play in making the world a better place. Our hope is to inspire readers of all ages, moving them to action.”

Six Ways To Help Autism and Special Needs Families During The Coronavirus Pandemic

Author Deanna Picon Offers Six Ways For Families, Friends And The Public To Support Autism And Special Needs Families During The Coronavirus Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has created new challenges for all of us, but it has been especially hard for families with special needs children and adults”

— Deanna Picon

NEW YORK, NY, US, April 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Raising a child with a disability, while trying to balance work and family responsibilities is no easy task for even the most dedicated parents, under the best of circumstances. Managing all aspects of a special needs child care, while sheltering in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, is even more stressful and time-consuming.

“The coronavirus pandemic has created new challenges for all of us, but it has been especially hard for families with special needs children and adults,” said Deanna Picon, founder of Your Autism Coach, LLC and author of The Autism Parents' Guide To Reclaiming Your Life. "During this difficult time, any act of kindness given by family, friends and the public would be deeply appreciated by special needs families.”

The necessary structure, routine and services for special needs individuals have been severely disrupted, causing additional stress and responsibilities in these family households. In most cases, special needs children have lost access to school and academic programs as well as physical, occupational, speech and behavioral therapies. Many adults with disabilities aren't able to attend day habilitation, vocational and recreational programs.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 54 U.S. children has an autism spectrum disorder.

"Special needs parents courageously face autism and all the enormous challenges and responsibilities that accompany it on a daily basis. They may be your best friend, your cousin, your neighbor or co-worker," says Picon. "During this pandemic, they’ve assumed even more tasks and duties with full time caregiving, home schooling and managing the challenging behavioral issues of their children."

Family and friends can apply these easy tips to make a huge difference in the lives of special needs parents throughout the year:

1. Keep in touch and be supportive. Special needs parents often feel alone and isolated, so it's really beneficial to let them know you're there, if they need you. With the pandemic, a majority of families are feeling even more isolated and anxious. Many parents are worried about the long term effects of the pandemic on their children including regression of hard-won skills. Text, email or call to just say "Hello". You can also use Skype, FaceTime and other social media platforms to stay in touch and lend support.

2. Listen without judgement. Allow special needs parents to vent, cry and blow off some steam. No one expects you to solve their problems or provide solutions. A friendly face or supportive voice on the other end of the telephone works perfectly.

3. Help with everyday tasks. These days, there are long lines everywhere you go. It’s common to spend one to two hours waiting to enter essential businesses like supermarkets, banks or pharmacies. Many parents aren’t comfortable bringing their children out of the house for fear of a meltdown or possible virus exposure. Others can’t leave their special needs child alone at home while running essential errands. If possible, offer to shop for some groceries for these families while you do your own shopping. It'll save parents much needed time and energy.

4. Send a meal. A pizza pie, box of chicken or any take-out meal from local restaurants can make everyone feel good and valued. Not only would you be helping these families, you would also be supporting local businesses who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic. Many restaurants are now providing free delivery services.

The public can also support special needs families in various ways:

5. Express your support. Donations to local and national autism organizations are always welcome and appreciated. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, many fundraising events such as autism walks, have been cancelled or postponed. These organizations need the public’s help more than ever to support special needs individuals, families and the autism community. You can also purchase goods and services that contribute to autism-related causes.

6. Increase public awareness. This is a perfect time to learn more about autism and other disabilities. Watch a TV news report, read an article or go online to gain a better understanding of these conditions. Start a conversation with a friend or family member.
