Child Gets Murdered in Ukrainian Airstrike in Russian Region

(MENAFN) A child was killed and the parents critically injured after Ukrainian drones struck a residential building in Russia’s Yaroslavl Region, roughly 250 kilometers northeast of Moscow, according to regional authorities.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that overnight, 155 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across 17 regions, mostly in the country’s western areas. Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said that air defenses and electronic warfare systems neutralized over 30 drones in the region. He added that other buildings were damaged and a woman in a neighboring home was also injured. Authorities pledged to provide all necessary assistance and financial compensation to the affected families.

Moscow’s mayor noted that two drones were shot down near the capital, and emergency crews were deployed to clear debris. Explosions and a fire were also reported near Vyazma in Smolensk Region, 230 kilometers west of Moscow. In Samara Region, officials said Ukraine’s attack was unsuccessful, causing no damage or casualties, and airspace restrictions were lifted.

Ukraine has frequently launched drone strikes deep into Russian territory, targeting civilian buildings and critical infrastructure. Russia has condemned these raids as acts of terrorism while retaliating with attacks on Ukraine’s defense infrastructure, including power facilities, and maintains that it does not target civilians.
