Iran claims Israel uses nuclear power as excuse to attack Iran

(MENAFN) Iran has claimed that Israel is deliberately attempting to escalate its military campaign beyond its current borders and involve other countries across the West Asia region.

At a press briefing on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei condemned what he described as ongoing Israeli "aggression" that began on Friday, targeting both military and civilian sites in Iran.

“We have no doubt that Israel wishes to fan the flames of the war as much as it can and spread the flames to other countries and players in the region,” Baghaei stated. He further alleged that Israeli airstrikes had struck residential areas and even a children's hospital in the capital, Tehran.

He dismissed Israel’s accusations regarding Iran’s nuclear activities, asserting that claims about the nuclear program were being used as a false justification for military actions. Baghaei emphasized that no credible evidence suggested Iran had deviated from a peaceful nuclear trajectory.

In addition, he strongly criticized US officials for their positions on the attacks, arguing that their stance reinforced Iran’s belief that Washington was complicit in Israel’s continued “lawbreaking and aggression.”
